The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) is honored to partner with six leading Taiwan museums to promote an anti-wildlife trafficking campaign titled “Culture and Conservation.” project.
On December 11 at the American Center AIT Direct Marut joined Directors and representatives of six of Taiwan’s leading museums to launch the “Culture and Conservation” anti-wildlife trafficking campaign. The “Culture and Conservation” poster is on display in museum galleries around Taiwan delivering the message that “Ivory Collections Only Belong in Museums.”
In remarks at yesterday’s event, AIT Director Marut and National Palace Museum Director Fung Ming-chu emphasized the importance of wildlife conservation and explained how Taiwan museums’ popularity will allow the program potentially to reach millions of visitors with the message that purchasing ivory or rhino horn products imperils the existence of these species and must stop.
Other participants in the event included Director Chang Yu-tang of the National Museum of History, Director Sun Wei-hsin of the National Museum of Natural Science, Director Chang Shan-nan of the National Museum of Prehistory, Director Chen Chih-ming of the National Taiwan Museum and Professor Fang Tonyun of the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium. The speech by AIT Director Marut and an updated video featuring the “Culture and Conservation” program are posted on the AIT website: http://youtu.be/SCKb6yojopQ
